English (US) Writer

Work Location: Remote (Anywhere within the US)
Engagement Model: Freelance/Independent Contractor 
Workload: Approx. 10 hours per week 
Start Date: Immediate 
Estimated Project End Date: August 8th, 2025. The Writer will have 3 weeks to deliver the work. 
Compensation Model: Task-based, flat rate. 
Rate: $1,000 USD per completed novella (around 12,500 words) - covering all stages, including revisions after QA and client feedback if needed.

DataForce by TransPerfect is currently looking for English (US) Writers to produce publishable-level content. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of an innovative project to improve AI technology.  

Candidates with demonstrated writing experience through self-publishing, blogging, book drafts, short stories, and other related activities will be considered for this role. Priority will be given to candidates with previously published book(s) and that can provide a high-quality writing sample in one of the applicable genres (Biography/Memoirs and Thriller).

Task Summary: 

Writers will be required to work on 1 novella that totals around 12,500 words. Once delivered, the work will be reviewed in batches by a QA team and our client. If needed, Writers will have to work on the feedback received and apply the necessary changes to their text. 

The writer’s novella will need to be from one of the following genres: 

• Memoir/Autobiography/Biography - can be on anyone the writer chooses, even a made up person.  

• Thriller. 

Other Important Information: 

As part of the screening process, candidates will need to provide a portfolio of their work for review. The portfolio must: 

• Be a PDF file. 

• Be kept concise yet comprehensive. 

• Include 3 pieces of work. At least one of them must match the genre you select to work on (memoir/biography or thriller). We only accept up to 3 excerpts of 400-700 words each, and it may include a selection of different types of writing (articles, blog posts, reports, whitepapers). For example: 

• Published Work: Published pieces, especially from sites, magazines, etc. 

• Examples of content for various platforms (Medium, Substack, etc). 

• Any other relevant material you might have to show proof of your past experience. 

Please note that priority will be given to candidates who share samples of novels, short stories, or other published creative works.

Please note that the use of any AI tools is not allowed for content creation, all submitted content will be reviewed for plagiarism and the use of AI technologies.

• Idiomatic fluency in English (US) 

• Graduate or undergraduate of literature, journalism, or creative writing or with proven experience in journalism, writing, or content creation 

• At least one previously published work. If no formally published work is available, high-quality sample(s) that reflect publication-level standards may be submitted instead. 

• Experience in creative writing 

• Excellent writing skills (grammar, spelling) 

• Attention to detail
