German Language Linguist (m/w/d) – Remote

Work Location: Remote / Work from home   

Engagement Model: Freelance / Independent Contractor 

Language Needed: German (Germany), English 

Estimated Workload: ca. 28 hours for the entire task

Project duration: ca. 2 weeks 

DataForce by TransPerfect is looking for a linguist with idiomatic fluency in German (Germany) to assist in creating a lexicon, following strict formatting requirements laid out in our project guidelines. 

Role Summary  

As our Linguist, you will be provided with a list of words for which you will be asked to create phonetic transcriptions using a closed set of phonemes. The ideal candidate for this project should have excellent listening and writing skills, great attention to detail, and the ability to multitask to produce phonetic transcriptions using the IPA or SAMPA phonetic alphabet. 

Job requirements 

• Idiomatic fluency in German (Germany). 

• Postgraduate degree in Linguistics with a specialization in Phonetics or another relevant field. 

• Familiarity with the IPA and SAMPA phonetic alphabets. 

• Preferred: Prior experience with linguistic data, especially phonetic data. 

• Strong attention to detail, with the ability to provide deliverables on a tight schedule. 

• A Computer with a reliable and steady internet connection.
