Freelance Lexicon Linguist – Spanish (Latin America)

Work Location: Remote  

Workload: 5-10 hours in total

Work Summary 

We are seeking a part time Spanish (Latin America) linguist  to join us on an exciting project contributing about 5-10 hours of work total.   

 We currently need to produce an extended pronunciation lexicon from real call center data to be used in a customized speech recognition engine. As part of this effort, a pronunciation lexicon needs to be extended to include new vocabulary.  

Work Responsibilities 

Create phonetic transcriptions from a list of words provided by DataForce by TransPerfect using IPA or SAMPA for Spanish (Latin America) 

• Idiomatic fluency in Spanish (Latin America) 

• Postgraduate degree in linguistics with a specialization in phonetics 

• Experience using the IPA and/or SAMPA phonetic alphabets 

• Prior experience with linguistic data, especially phonetic data 

• Strong attention to detail with the ability to turn around deliverables on a tight schedule
