DataForce by TransPerfect is seeking experienced Retail Subject Matter Experts to support a cutting-edge Generative AI and data analytics initiative. In this role, you will leverage your deep understanding of retail operations, merchandising, and omnichannel strategy to design workflows, create evaluation frameworks, and ensure that AI-driven tools produce accurate, actionable, and business-relevant outputs across the retail ecosystem. 

 

Main Responsibilities:  

  • Workflow Definition: Define key retail processes such as category management, pricing optimization, inventory forecasting, omnichannel fulfillment, and customer experience design. 

  • Evaluation Creation: Develop test cases and performance criteria to assess the AI’s ability to simulate and optimize real-world retail decisions, such as planogram design, cross-merchandising logic, or promotional pricing. 

  • Capability Assessment: Evaluate model performance in areas like product assortment planning, customer segmentation, loyalty strategy, clienteling, and supply chain optimization (e.g., cross-docking, ship-from-store, endless aisle).  

  • Data Curation & Annotation: Identify and curate high-quality retail data, including POS transactions, loyalty data, product hierarchies, and customer journey information, to train and refine AI models. 

  • Feedback & Iteration: Review model-generated insights, test recommendations (e.g., pricing, category roles, store layouts), and provide expert feedback to improve accuracy, usability, and alignment with retail best practices. 

 

As a Retail Domain Expert, you will: 

  • Ensure that AI models reflect the real-world complexity of modern retail, from store operations to e-commerce.  

  • Help create tools that improve efficiency, profitability, and customer experience across retail touchpoints.  

  • Bridge the gap between AI capabilities and retail expertise, shaping the next generation of intelligent retail systems. 

 

Job requirements

  • Experience: 10+ years of professional experience in one or more of the following areas:  Merchandising / Category Management, Retail Operations / Store Management, Omnichannel Strategy & E-Commerce, Supply Chain & Inventory Optimization, Pricing & Promotions / Revenue Management, Retail Analytics & Customer Insights, CRM, Clienteling, and Loyalty Programs. 

  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex retail operations into structured processes and decision frameworks.  

  • Strong analytical mindset; comfortable working with both quantitative data (e.g., RFM, market basket analysis) and qualitative retail concepts (e.g., experiential retail, store layout psychology).  

  • Excellent communication skills; able to explain retail concepts clearly to non-experts or technical teams.  

  • Familiarity with AI, data science, or retail technology platforms (POS, ERP, CRM) is a plus.  

  • High attention to detail, commitment to data integrity, and an understanding of end-to-end retail workflows.
